10 Great Carles Puyol Moments

  1. My take on Puyol leaving. I just don’t get it. Like I said when the rumors first came out, there is no need for him to leave (I assume he is leaving, not retiring as he can definitely play a couple more years).

He is in my eyes still good enough to play once a week. Sol Capmbell who was a rock back in the days, used to play once a week to because of his knee issues.

We have many weeks where we only have one match a week, I’d play him over Mascherano. When we do have mid week matches, then of course rotate him.

It will hurt to see him in another jersey but if he does, I wouldn't want to see him in a Middle-Eastern or Chinese league. I would prefer him to go to MLS or Japan or Australian league then. But I really wish that he would go to AC Milan because I really think that he still can play in Europe in one of the top leagues with Serie A being the most suitable for his age and AC Milan the best destination for him. A great club deserves a great player.

So in 2 seasons we lost 2 of our best defenders in Puyol and Abidal. Will we ever be as good defensively as when these 2 were still playing? I really doubt it.

Now that Puyol is leaving, we will need to sign 2 CB’s. How much money will the club have to spend this summer as we also need a striker and another midfielder.

Thank you for everything Puyol. I am glad to have watched you play from the beginning of your career when you were a young reckless and quite wild but very talented RB to the best CB the club has had for the past decade. Thank you and good luck!
